So you have been invited to participate in a Refuge Baby Shower at your church, business or organization - but you have a few questions. Here are some answers...
 

Who are we showering? The Refuge Center clients. Many new or expectant mothers in our community are in need of help preparing for the care of a new baby. Refuge offers Practical Motherhood; an Earn While You Learn parenting class. During this class new mommies can earn points and shop in our Baby Market where they can turn those points into a "purchase" of large and small items for their new arrival.

Why is there an increased need for these showers? Over the past year, the enrollment in our Practical Parenting classes has increased over 40%. With increased enrollment, we have a need to restock our shelves more frequently.

How else can I help provide material items for Refuge clients? We also accept gently used items such as clothing, shoes, boots, and coats. We have been blessed to offer help to families in our community with our Material Distribution program.  If you wish, you may choose to make a financial donation that will be used to help The Refuge Center provide services to our clients.

What items do you need the most?  

Here is a list of items typically needed.

• Maternity Clothes & Nursing Bras

• Diapers 0 to size 6

• Wet Wipes

• Powder Formula 

• Infant Toiletries (baby bath, shampoo, lotion, washcloths, etc.)

• Boys and Girls Clothes- Infant to 3T

• Shoes- Infant to 3T

• Strollers

• Car Seats (must be new)

• Bottles & Sippy Cups (must be new)

• Pack and Play(s)

• Diaper Bags

• Blankets

• High Chairs

• Bouncy Seats

• Coats and Boots

• Children's books

I would like to schedule a shower for Refuge. How do I do that? Our goal is to hold several baby showers each year so that we can restock items for new moms as they visit Refuge. So by reaching out to our Abundant Life Church Partners and asking each one to hold a shower annually, we should be able through your generosity and God's grace reach this goal.
