Ruth Naomi Winningham Kemp

Ruth Winningham.jpg

Wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend...

Ruth embodied the true meaning of love to those around her. Her family meant everything to her. She loved and prayed for her family fiercely. She found pleasure in being around children and encouraging their imagination. Ruth had a contagious, laugh and smile. She had a way of making ordinary things beautiful. Ruth enjoyed singing, playing the piano and cultivating beautiful flowers to share with those around her. She found gratification in creating and preparing delicious meals for the enjoyment of others. Ruth’s kindness and giving we’re never lacking. Her strength of faithfulness, beauty, creativity, and love were all of force to be reckoned with. We celebrate Mrs. Ruth, who helped shape so many lives and touch so many others.
She will be greatly missed.

Muriel (Mimi) Drouilhet Soileau

Life-perserver.jpg

Known to her friends and family as Mimi, she was a “Wonder Woman,” a friend to every one of God’s creatures, human or non, and a lover of the natural world. A devout Catholic Christian, having attended Sacred Heart Academy in New Orleans, LA., Mimi was loved by countless people and opened her heart to anyone in need, always giving of her time and talent.

As an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers. Mimi was a legend for her tireless commitment. As such she was avid supporter and friend of The Refuge Center. She donated a nautical life preserver that she had commission specifically for Refuge as tribute to the mission of saving lives and serving families. It still hangs on the walls of Refuge today.

In memory of this beautiful, kind hearted woman her friends and family are asking anyone that feels lead to, make a donation in honor and memory of Mimi to the Refuge Center and the work that she so deeply believed in and supported.

Our beloved friend Joan Matthews went home to be with the Lord recently.  Joan gave her heart and grace to everything she did.  Refuge Pregnancy Center was blessed to have her beautiful smile and warm heart with us as a volunteer for 3 years, from 2008-2011.  She had a passion and mercy filled heart for women suffering from post-abortive trauma.  Joan was a beautiful soul and will be missed dearly by her Refuge friends and her beloved family.

In lieu of flowers, the Matthews family has requested that a memorial fund be set up in honor and memory of Joan Matthews.  If you would like to make a donation, you may do so here.

"Today" A Poem by Joan Nix Matthews-1972

Life goes by and we hurry through it Seldom realizing, we can't renew it. One minute, on hour, one night, one day
And soon tomorrow is on it's way. It's always tomorrow in many's eyes, And we fail to see the blue in today's skies.

We plan and wait, fear and hesitate Tomorrow comes; it's too late. For someone feels and someone sees,
It's today that counts, today the breathes. Just as yesterday dies, Tomorrow has not yet lived. Today counts most when we give. Our Precious Lord from up above Gave us this day to LIVE To LOVE And if we let it pass us by;
TODAY as YESTERDAY will die. (an excerpt from "Embracing Love" authored by Joan Matthews)

In honor and memory of a beloved husband, who even believed in the sanctity of human life so much that he actively sought donations from his workplace for the mission of the The Refuge Center.

We will muss our friend and co-worker at AT&T are collecting a donation for a cause near and dear to Mike's heart.  Mike and his wife have been long time supporters and donors to The Refuge Center.

Mike wholeheartedly believed in the Refuge mission "To serve families with Christ-like compassion, by offering support, guidance and education in times of physical, emotional and spiritual need for promoting healthy pregnancy, birth and lifestyle."
